2020-2021 Capitol Division Calendar of Events

Capitol Division clubs that wish to host club events must follow the Capitol Division Sanctioning Policy.

Sanctioning of Capitol Division club-sponsored events will begin July 1.

  1. All times listed are close of check-in. Late entries will be permitted only at the meet manager’s discretion, and only if the event seeding has not yet been completed. See Capitol Division Clubs for directions to the competition sites.
  2. Fees, unless otherwise noted, are $10.00 registration fee (per tournament) plus $25.00 entry fee for each event ($35.00 entry fee if not preregistered on AskFRED). The $10.00 registration fee may be waived for qualifying events if the event is not fenced.
  3. The registration fee is waived for those students who show a valid university undergraduate ID when registering for Division events. Whether this discount is valid for club sponsored events is to be determined by the club.
  4. No entry fee discounts will be given for refereeing. All referees will be paid at the approved rate. (see Capitol Division Fee Schedule).
  5. At all Capitol Division events, each fencer will be required to show his/her USFA membership card, FIE license, or a receipt for membership. Fencers who do not provide this proof of membership will be required to complete and pay for a new membership application before being allowed to compete. Applications will be available at each competition.
  6. At qualifying events, all fencers must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents, must not have represented another country in international competition in the past three years, and must be permitted to represent the United States at the next World Championships.
  7. All events will be fenced electrically. A full uniform, as specified in the USFA rules, including at least 2 functioning weapons, 2 functioning body cords, 2 functioning mask cords (as applicable per weapon)and a valid metallic vest and mask (as applicable per weapon) is required. Clothing must be in good condition, with no holes. All fencers must wear plastrons and legs must be fully covered by either knickers or socks. Sweatpants or shorts are not permitted under any circumstance! Women are required to wear breast protectors and men are strongly recommended to wear protective cups. Masks must be in good condition, with no obvious holes or dents. They must be able to pass the 12-kilogram punch test. Jackets must overlap knickers by at least 10 centimeters. Fencers are encouraged, but not required, to have their name on the back of their jacket or lamé or on their rear leg. All sabre fencers must have 800NW gloves as specified by US Fencing.
  8. In order to compete in open events, fencers must be at least 13 years of age by January 1 of the fencing season. Fencers younger than 13 may only compete in open events if they are on the Junior national point standings.
  9. We urge everyone to sign up for division tournaments on www.AskFRED.net. Entry fee is increased to $35.00 per event if you are not preregistered. Some tournaments may be cancelled if AskFRED does not show enough fencers.
